Just in, and impressing us already. The Audio Technica range of headphones is both bewilderingly wide and, on the recommended cross-section that we have purchased so far, surprisingly capable.
We have on demonstration :

Isoblue (and special branch), Kudos Audio, Lyngdorf, Lyra, Michell Engineering, Naim Audio, Neat Acoustics, Nordost, Origin Live, Ortofon, Nottingham Analogue, Partington, Primare, Rega, Roksan, Sim2, Graham Slee, Shahinian, Something Solid, Stands Unique, Stax Earspeakers, Sumiko, Trichord, Wireworld, Wyrewizard
AD ES 7 Available in white or black. These are portable 'phones aimed at the iPod market and they really hit the spot. They are closed, so there is negligible 'spillage' and they give a clean, refined, dynamic and weighty sound. Excellent on all musical styles and small and light enough to carry around. A nice soft draw-string bag is included. Mini Jack (3.5 mm). £99.95
AD700. The same price as the ES7, these are open backed 'audiophile' products. Far more airy than the ES 7, these are fundamentally better phones for domestic use. Being wide open, they do leak sound though. They come with both mini (3.5 mm) and standard quarter inch jack plugs.
£99.95
AD 1000. Now things are getting serious and they look absolutely terrific in the metal. As with the AD700, these are light and comfortable and the resolution and naturalness improve in equal measure. Out of the box, they are good, but there is a lot of running in to go. £269.95
W1000. Closed back and made from wood (the body, not the drivers, you fool). Real potential here, but a LOT more running-in before we should comment. Very clean and pure. Maybe a little bit lean at the moment. I will update this when the run-in is completed.m £399.95
