Uniti.
Compatibility with iPhone control App.
Compatibility with digital iPod.
Currently, there are two different versions of the Uniti in the field running different issues of software. These are:
BC SW 10189 of which we estimate total 2200 units
BC SW 10198 of which we estimate total 550 units
To determine what s/w a Uniti is running then the following procedure is required:
From the Remote Handset: Press the setup button (the ‘spanner’ icon) Using the down arrow button scroll down to ‘Factory settings’ Press the OK button - This takes you to ‘system status’ Press the OK’ button again – This takes you to the ‘System Status’ list Scroll down and you will come across BC SW at the bottom of the list. Press the ‘List’ button to exit.
From the Front panel: Press and hold ‘list’ button. Using the button ‘prev’ scroll down to ‘Factory settings’ Press ‘Stop’ button (this is the OK button) - This takes you to ‘system status’ Press ‘stop’ button again – This takes you to the ‘System Status’ list Use ‘prev’ to scroll down and you will come across BC SW at the bottom of the list. Press and hold ‘List’ to exit.
Those units that are running BC SW 10198 (the 550) will require a new Audivo board to apply either of these updates. These units need to be returned to us and we will fit the new board free of charge.
There will be a s/ware release in the near future that will be available free of charge which will enable the Uniti control App to be used with BC SW 10189 Uniti versions (the 2200).
The updated unit will still require the analogue n-Link cable to connect an iPod and will not support Digital iPod connection via USB unless the following procedure is carried out:
The Audivo board is replaced with a new version that has the Apple Authentication chip. The software update needs to be applied to these units too. The main board must also be re-programmed with a special 1-wire programming tool. This entire procedure will be carried out at Naim HQ.
The projected cost of Naim doing this work will result in the end user being charged £225.00 INC VAT. All machines would need to be returned to us. The n-Link cable will then be redundant
A new version of Uniti started shipping in September from serial number 297008, that allows for the Apple control App and digital iPod.
The updates will, we understand, become available from the end of September.
