Truth be told, this £1950 black box is probably the most significant new product to come from Salisbury since they produced their first CD player. And it comes in a year when Naim have been spewing out innovative products.
The Naim DAC was designed and developed by Hjalmar Nilsson, Steve Sells (both pictured on the right) and the equally photogenic John Marsden, who has been spared our front page treatment. Built for the modern environment where digital audio can come from a wide variety of sources, the Naim DAC allows you to group everything through a single input.
But it's about far more than mere convenience. Adding the DAC to take advantage of the digital outputs on the very latest CDX2 , CD5XS, CD players or the HDX hard drive player brings a genuinely breathtaking upgrade. Those who heard the DAC at the Summer Bash were universally impressed. We've had a few more sessions with it and can say that it seems to get even better with familiarity.
Radical use of extremely powerful Digital Signal Processing means that the DAC can get the very best out of any digital source. It has the ability to play the digital music files directly from an attached iPod (the very first device of its kind to do so) and to play music stored on a USB stick . Of course it can dovetail with existing (or, ahem, future) network audio streaming devices too.
Best of all, it can be enhanced still further with the ubiquitous Naim XPS or 555 power supplies that many potential users already own. If you would like to have a printed brochure, give us a call on 01473 655171. Downloads are below.
