The Arcam SR250 is an oddball product, but in a very nice way!
The SR250 is a fully featured two channel integrated AV amp with full Hdmi switching and Dirac room correction. The amplifier part is effectively the A39 but with a larger power supply.
The result is intriguing: a hifi amplifier that can adjust for difficult room conditions. We’ve run into one customer with no interest in multi-channel audio for whom it is a ‘direct hit’. He knew where the room issues were and, when Dirac was run in the room, it created a profile that could adjust the issues away. It also leaves room for the user to over-ride things so that the perfect balance is achieved.
Even just used ‘straight’ without the room correction, this is an irrationally better amplifier than the A39. It’s arguably the sweet spot of the range.
